I was 16 years old when my life changed completely. Not because of a terrible accident, or even a death in the family; it was because I had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and hospitalized. I decided the change in my life would be a positive one, and that I would not let diabetes stop me from living life or get me down. I am therefore committed to setting a good example for my children and others with diabetes, so that diabetes is not something that stops us from our journey in life.

I also am passionate about finding a cure for diabetes. I do not wish the hardships of diabetes on my children or any of the other small voices in the world. If I can speak to people or educate them about diabetes, I can bring more attention to finding a cure so no one else will have my hardships. That is why I want to Stop Diabetes.
