I have a personal and professional link to diabetes. I have a strong family history of diabetes and have seen my mother and other family members struggle with the complications of diabetes.

The devastation caused by diabetes to one's life makes me want to stop diabetes and defeat it before it starts. That is why I volunteer for the American Diabetes Association.

It is my personal and professional mission to Stop Diabetes in whatever way I can, by volunteering for the Association on various committees and serving in any capacity that makes a difference or by being a member of the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation and helping to raise funds for research for the cure for diabetes.

Karmeen made an important volunteer contribution by serving as Past President, Health Care & Education for the American Diabetes Association. She has also been honored as the American Diabetes Association Diabetes Educator of the Year, and currently serves as the Chair of the Community Leadership Board in the Utah market. Karmeen is also the Director of Scientific Affairs at Abbot Labs' Diabetes Care.
