I'm 5' 8" and was about 213 pounds four years ago. I had just moved back to southern California when I felt dizzy. My blood sugar was low. I drank a sugary cola, but it didn't help. It made things worse it seemed. I went to the doctor the next day and had my blood sugar tested. It was borderline diabetic. My doctor told me to exercise, lose weight, and watch my intake of sugar and carbs.
I did. I dropped down to 160 pounds. Now my fasting blood sugar is normal.
My mom has type 2 diabetes and I have the propensity for it. I still maintain a healthy lifestyle. I eat right and exercise when I can. Type 2 can be kept at bay if you take control of your diet and lifestyle.
