One year… One year ago today I was clueless as to what was getting ready to hit at 10:30 pm the following night. One year ago today she was carefree. One year ago today she thought going to the doctor was fun. One year ago today she liked getting her vaccines. One year ago today we rarely gave meds to our child. One year ago today I thought she was just thirsty. One year ago today her fingertips were soft, tender…untouched. One year ago today she weighed 39 pounds… She was wasting away and I didn't even see it. One year ago today I had never force-fed my child a box of juice or glucose tablet. One year ago today I had never counted carbs in my life. One year ago today I did not get up in the middle of the night to routinely draw blood from my child. One year ago today I had no idea that we could lose her. One year ago today Anya was not a diabetic… Amazing what happened in one year. Today my daughter is STRONG. She is BRAVE. She is a TEACHER. She is an INSPIRATION. She is BEAUTIFUL! She is still ANYA.
